What am I made of: vintage laces, cats hairs and purple animal patterns.
Yukito Lim is a London-based fashion and textile designer whose practice explores the intersection of sustainability, material innovation, and contemporary craftsmanship. With a Master’s degree in Fashion Textiles Technology, Yukito combines traditional textile techniques with experimental processes to create work that challenges conventional approaches to fashion production and consumption.
Originally from China and now based in the United Kingdom, Yukito’s creative journey spans fashion design, textile development, and vintage curation. Before launching an independent fashion practice, Yukito spent several years working within the vintage fashion industry, developing a deep appreciation for the stories, craftsmanship, and potential held within existing garments and materials.
Driven by the belief that innovation can emerge from what already exists, Yukito’s work focuses on transformation, reconstruction, and adaptability. Through a combination of textile experimentation, garment reconstruction, embroidery, printing, knitting, and mixed-media techniques, each project seeks to uncover new possibilities for materials that might otherwise be overlooked.
Alongside developing an independent fashion label, Yukito continues to explore how design can encourage a more conscious and interactive relationship between people and clothing. The work reflects a commitment to creativity, sustainability, and the ongoing dialogue between technology, craftsmanship, and human expression.
